Discussion:
Example code for Interbase 2007, Delphi 2007, dbExpress and Unicode?

My first experiments with dbExpress and Unicode have not been so
successful (see my post "Delphi 2007 and InterBase 2007, UTF8 Encoding:
'expecting WideString, found String'").

I really would like to know if it is a problem with my Delphi 2007
installation or my wrong understanding of the technology.

Is there a small example which demonstrates the usage of dbExpress in
Delphi 2007 for Unicode in Interbase 2007?

In my company we are approaching a huge new project which requires
Unicode in an Interbase 2007 database.

Many thanks in advance

I would advise you to write to the Delphi product manager, and ask to
be added to the Tiburon field test. You will need Tiburon to have
real, comprehensive support for Unicode in the Win32 Delphi.

Many thanks for this suggestion. However the project contains only a
very small part which requires Unicode (some database fields).
I am not sure how much effort is neccessary to switch this quite huge
project to Tiburon, while the project time frame is only two or three
months. We have the port from Delphi 7 to 2007 almost running, just the
small Unicode parts are missing.

If I can convince the project manager to try it, I would be happy to
join the field test.
